They ask for him by name and shortens it to make it seem like they know each other, as in "hey, is Dave there?", when the real name is David and he never goes by 'Dave'. When told he's not available and offer to take a message, they hang up on you. If you ask what company they are calling from or the nature of the call, they hang up on you. Rude.
