“ Given as a call back number by a bad recording claiming to be "Steve Martin", threatening enforcement action by US Treasury. Obviously a scam. ”

“ Caller ID was New York, NY with a number of 347-418-0415. They called on our "scam line", a phone we only use for out going calls. The phone has not taken a call since January but they just keep calling. After 2 rings our fax machine comes on to welcome them to a phone line they will NEVER get through on. ”

Caller with very heavy accent identified himself as "Steve" (or maybe "Dave") Martin from the U.S. Treasury and said that failure to return his call could result in having to appear before a federal magistrate. He left the above phone number for call back, but caller ID showed the caller's number as being in my area code (541). Obviously a scam even before I saw the real originating call. ”

They claim to be the US treasury department but yet the address they have for me is 5 years old...(which would be impossible for the Treasury to have wrong if i have been paying taxes and have a current ID). This is most certainly a scam. ”
