“ Received three messages, finally called back. answers the phone Department of Treasury. said I owed $5000 in taxes from 2013. Said I had been sent two letters from the IRS and I had not responded and now he has taken the case over. They would be freezing my bank accounts, putting a "HOLD" on my driver's license!! and a warrant had been issued for tax evasion and I would soon be arrested. ”

“ I'm so tired of these scammers. Why in this age of technology, can't the authorities find the people who are behind this (surely someone is getting a phone bill against that number) and arrest them and put them away for a long long time?? ”

“ It happened to me. This guy calls and leaves a message saying he is from the IRS. Thick accent. I do hope that no elderly people fall for this scam. Thanks. ”

“ Just got the call. Woman with heavy Indian accent. told me I must pay, over 5000.00, or they will send an IRS agent to my house to arrest me. ”

“ We just received the same message since we did not pickup unknown number. What do they hope to gain? ”

“ I received the same threatening message from Steve Martin that others described. When I called back the first time there was no voice mail set up. On the second try, Steve Martin answered and he asked for my name. I told him that before I provide any personal info that he look me up by my phone number since there are so many ID thieves out there these days. He promptly hung up. ”

“ Just got the same call. I let it go to the machine. Said his name was Steve Martin and left the same type of message. ”

“ I also received the same call which the number indicates that it is a mobile phone call from the District of Columbia. Also a very heavy accent and the message indicated that his name is Steve Madden or something to that effect. Also indicated that if we didn't return the call that it is punishable before a Magistrate or District Judge. ”

“ Definitely a scammer/hoax caller who left a long message when I did not pick up the call. This robocall is one I have received before from a different number and they try again until I block the number on my landline. The heavily accented caller is male telling me there is an enforcement action that I must call them back to keep my case from going before the magistrate judge as a federal case against me, etc. ”
