“ Got one of these last week on voice mail on the home phone. Never used mine or my husband's name, just said there were four federal charges --against who, they didn't specify -- and that unless I called back the 202-754-8404 number, someone would be subject to arrest. Oy. ”

“ Number 2027548404 called stating my husband had a warrant out for his arrest for IRS charges from 2010-2015 for fraud (which wouldn't I also be guilty for combined tax returns?). They gave him a case number and a badge number (LOL). They said if he would go to Wal-Mart and send $500 they could stop it now. They asked him to get money from family or to use credit cards! I researched online and there was no warrant for his arrest. I called the local sheriffs office and they put me in contact with the fraid line. We also called the IRS to report the incident. I then called the number from my cell phone just for fun. They said the arrest warrant will be sent to his EMPLOYER at 6am. LOL. I told them they really aren't coming off as professional and their phone numbers are all identified online. The best thing was Jason Parker answered, and I was to speak to Alex Parker-both of Indian syntax and modality in voice! \r\n\r\n ”

Call was much like everyone else... it was an IRS issue and that I needed to call immediately and speak to Officer Thomas O'Brien Badge number 4927. Total scam. I am calling Howard County now to let them know that they have found a way to call using their numbers. “ Spoofing call.... I received a call with the Johnson County Sheriff's phone number on my caller id. The voice mail said the sheriff's dept was working with the IRS and to call 202-754-8404 or there will be a warrant for my arrest. Total garbage. I contacted the sheriff's dept to verify. There is know officer by the name given in the voice mail and no warrant for my arrest. If you get a similar call, call the police dept to verify the information BEFORE you do anything else. ”

O'Brien.\r\nCalled the number and the same voice said that I had had 3 letters from the IRS about owing texes, and I would be arrested. Asked for my Social Security Number - I didn't give it. He was insistant that I needed to give this so they could 'pull up my file'. Still refused, and he said that police would be arresting me withing 20 minutes! (He gave my address, which was worrying).\r\nI called the IRS to confirm this was all BS - and it was. Nobody arrived.\r\nCaller ID was spoofed to be the Sherrif's Office that they claimed (the 202 number), but the initial call came from a different 718 number. ”

They told me go to the Walmart to fill out the form of Money Gram and send the money to them, if I confusing to do it then they will send the police officer to my house to arrest me immediately. I asked how come I didn't receive any letter from IRS, as I remember I didn't owe them a penny. They said there was no letter or any document because it also was the mistake from IRS. The person stated that I had been in an altercation with a police officer and that a warrant for my arrest had been issued. They gave names and "badge numbers" of the officers involved. So many things wrong with that 1) the person calling had a heavily "non-Texan" accent 2) I'm not in that county to have an altercation (although, they didn't give a date as to when this alleged altercation took place) 3) A 202- area code to call back? Really? 4) the Sheriff wouldn't call you, they'd show up and arrest you by surprise, not warn you by phone.\r\n\r\nThe original call did show to come from the Sheriff's office, so was obviously spoofed.\r\n ”
