“ I got the same phone call as I was sitting in class today. This man claimed that I was late on some federal tax and this was my "last chance." He also said "most people get arrested but I know you have a bright future so I'm going to help you out" The foreign man told me he was an officer and to get out not tell anyone where I was going or who I was talking to. I was very scared because he told me I would be arrested and they knew my college address, my full name, and my home address and they told me the police could see me. He kept asking me to pull out $1000 not only from my account but also my parents account. He made me go into my bank and ask for overdrafts and loans. I stupidly gave him my debit card information out of fear and hung up and called the police, froze my bank accounts, and called my parents. I just saw on the news that this has been happening to everyone today. Very scary. Man had an Indian-sounding accent and was extremely hostile when I wanted to ask questions. On the phone for an hour. I'm only 19 and I was very scared. :( Now I know its a scam and I just wanna warn everyone so you don't get dragged into it as far as I did. ”

“ My daughter received a call yesterday from this number saying they were from the IRS and she owed $1,400 or she would be arrested, that her phone was tapped, and that she could not tell me (her mother) or anyone else. She was to take a taxi to the bank, withdraw money, get a moneygram and transfer to them. Then she was to report at 3:15 to the Municipal Court. She actually did as they told her and finally panicked and went to a neighbor and had him call me at work. I rushed home, called the police, froze her bank account, just n case, and was able to stop the moneygram and get her money back. She was terrified. They had her on the phone for over 3 hours. My daughter is no dummy but they ruled through fear and intimidation. What a shame that people can be this way. ”

“ Received 4 threatening calls from a foreigner, lots of static, saying he was from the IRS, and it was my last chance. Didn't say what my problem was. Also called from 202-350-9071. Obviously a scam. ”

“ Person pretending to be Kevin Anderson from the IRS. He was foreign and the whole thing sounded like a scam. Said I had something regarding my name and and identity to call back if not legal actions would be taken against me. It was odd they knew my name. ”

“ My daughter received a call from them about an hour ago telling her to leave where she was and don't tell anyone not even her teacher where she was going and to get on public transportation and to go to court house and pay $1000. They asked if she had enough money in her account and knew where she went to school and what bank she used. She was so frightened. They also said they could trace her phone and knew if she would call anyone. He was foreign and got very hostile saying to stay where she was and she was going to be arrested. ”

“ Received a call from this number from a guy saying he was calling from IRS and that there was a legal complaint in regards to my name and/or identity. I was asked to call back at the same number, or else legal actions would be taken aginst me. ”

“ Received a call asking for my daughter and said they were from the IRS Department of Education. They insisted on talking to my daughter and even knew where she went to school. I asked them to leave a message with me and they said it was confidential and needed to talk with her about her educational loans. When they wouldn't leave any message, I hung up. ”

“ Got a call from this number claiming they were from the IRS. I called back and tried to talk to them and waited and they hung up on me. Is this a scam or something? ”

“ Received 2 phone calls from Alex Watson a foreign man claiming he was from the IRS. That an officer will come take me into custody. ”

“ I received a call (4) from this number. He claimed to be from the IRS, knew where I went to school, and asked if I had received a call from the police. He was foreign and put me through to his boss, who was also foreign. His urgency and information did not add up. ”

“ I got a call from this number by a person claiming to be a federal officer. He was foreign. He tried telling me I owed the government for an outstanding balance from my financial aid. He then told me if I didn't pay it then I would be sued. I told him I was going to research it because I thought he was lying. He in fact was lying because I called my financial aid office and asked them about it. ”
